The Tamil Nadu government has recently made an announcement for construction workers. J. Mohamed Faravas, the Minister of Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department, has made this announcement that they are going to provide opportunities for construction workers to get skilled and Secure Overseas job opportunities. The government want to empower the construction workers so that they can get a job in other countries or abroad. They will soon organise the Global Skill Training Program under which the registered workers will get this opportunity of skill training and Foreign Language training. This will help all the construction workers who will be part of this skill training program to get eligible for foreign jobs. In the first phase of the TN Vettri Karangal Scheme, the government select 1000 construction workers for the training program.
The government has allotted Rs 15.06 crore for this overseas job training program. This is the newly announced scheme by the government on 1st September 2026. Along with this announcement,t the government also made several announcements for the gig and construction workers. The government also provides domestic skill training to the workers so that they can enhance their skills and productivity with modern equipment and Technology. For this, they will also provide a per-day wage during their training time. The domestic skill training will be for seven days at the different skill centres that will soon be set up by the government across different locations in Tamil Nadu. This project will cost around Rs 76 crore for the Tamil Nadu government. This scheme is known by the name ” Ayalagam Sellum Tamil Nadu Kattumana Vettri Karangal”. For the Welfare of construction workers who want to apply for job opportunities abroad, the government has introduced the scheme in September 2026. All construction workers who want to apply for jobs in other country they firstly get training from the state government under this new initiative. The government will provide them with the training opportunity, which will help them to polish there International standard skills and also help them to learn foreign languages through the training program. All the construction workers can avail the benefit of the scheme through the Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department. These opportunities are only for all registered construction workers in Tamil Nadu State.
Only the thousand construction workers who are registered with the department will get this opportunity in the first phase of the scheme. The construction workers who complete the training program will get advanced Global Skills certification that will help them to get international employment opportunities.
