Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme 2026
This scheme was introduced by the government with some implementation in 2027, and since 2026, women are getting maternity benefits from the state government. The main rule of the government is to provide better nutrition to pregnant women and women for their post-pregnancy care. This will help to reduce the infant mortality rate in Tamil Nadu and also reduce the maternal mortality rate. The government provides a Rs 18000 benefit to the women, including nutrition kits.
The women will get 14000 in cash and a nutritional kit worth rupees 4000 during their pregnancy and lactation journey. The cash amount will be provided in three instalments to the women in their 4th month, 9th month after delivery, and 4th month after delivery. A nutritional kit will be provided in the third and sixth months of pregnancy to the women. This is how women with financial support also get nutrition for the baby and for themselves. The government provide this benefit to women between 19 and 55years of age.
Guidelines
The most important announcement regarding the scheme is that the government provide the benefit for only two deliveries or for the first two children to women. Who are pregnant with their third child are not eligible for the scheme. In some conditions, a few mothers are eligible for the first and the fifth instalment and for nutritional kits. The government also includes pregnant women from other states who are migrant workers to get the first and 5th instalment with the nutrition kit.

- To get this, the pregnant woman’s age should be 19 or above.
- The mothers who are delivering there in the private medical colleges which are under the scheme are also eligible.
- Sri Lankan refugees are also eligible for the scheme.
- Members of the farmer social security scheme are also eligible.
- Women with only the first two children on fi to delivery will get this benefit.
- All migrant workers, including construction workers, are also eligible for the scheme.
- Migrant workers from other states are also included under the scheme.
